This week will finally bring us a fifth season of Michael Hirst’s epic History Channel series Vikings, and Amazon have announced that here in the UK we’ll be able to stream new episodes less than 24 hours after they air in the US, starting this Thursday – 30th November. Terrific news.
As some fans may be aware, the History channel over here hasn’t yet finished showing the fourth season, and if that’s where you’re watching it, we’ve got some further news for you: they’ve now confirmed they’ll begin the back half of season 4 from Tuesday 9th January at 9pm. We suspect many of you gave up long ago and switched to Prime, though!
The new season is so close we can practically smell it, and History are gearing up for the 2-hour premiere by giving us a sneak peek at what’s ahead by releasing lots of new clips.
Here’s the first one. The Great Heathen Army is ready for a fight but who will rise in this epic battle…?
Next up, you can watch Jonathan Rhys Meyers discussing his character Bishop Heahmund, who will be a big player in season 5…
Lastly, we’ve got a great little behind the scenes video which chronicles the making of the fifth season, and where Michael Hirst chats about the series’ development…
We’ll bring you more as we have it.
