The numbers for season 2 of Billions must have been especially impressive, because Showtime announced less than a month after the last season started that the series would come back for a third year in early 2018, and we’ve now got more information on when season 3 will begin – 25th March.
We’d imagine that Amazon will try everything in their power to make new episodes available to stream the day after, so here in the UK we’ll likely be looking at 26th March.
Here’s the first trailer…
And here’s the synopsis…
Season three of Billions finds Chuck Rhoades (Giamatti) and Bobby Axelrod (Lewis) in a world that has shifted on its axis. Both men are still determined to destroy the other, but must also battle for their own survival amid new forces and powerful enemies. Wendy Rhoades (Maggie Siff) Chuck’s wife and Axe’s performance coach, is all in for both of them, an uneasy and dangerous position for her, and one that ultimately puts her to a decision that could alter the direction of her life irrevocably. Money, power, justice and revenge are all on the line for each of these characters as well as for the rest of the stellar cast.
More as we have it.
Billions season 3 renewal
Addressing the show’s renewal last year, Showtime’s David Nevins said, “Billions continues to be a show on the rise, growing not only in audience, but in critical buzz and cultural relevance. It offers a unique mix of pure entertainment with sly commentary on our current have/have-not economy. Season 2 is off to a tremendous start, and has only whetted our audience’s appetite for what will come in season 3.”
